A beautiful way to restore a lost tooth

Dental Implants

Effective and Natural-looking

Dental implants are an effective and natural-looking solution for total tooth restoration, a superior way to fully restore missing teeth. We use the highest quality of dental implants to ensure that when you smile, your porcelain implant cannot be distinguished from your other teeth and will function perfectly – a worry-free, beautiful way to restore a lost tooth.

Single Implants

A single implant can replace a missing tooth with a sturdy, natural-looking tooth that will look and function exactly like a natural tooth. If you have several missing teeth, each of them can be replaced with a custom dental implant.

Implant Supported Dentures

Imagine having a full set of brilliant, healthy teeth. If you need a full arch of teeth, Implant Supported Dentures may be the perfect solution. With the use of only few implants we can restore your teeth. It is one of our most transformative procedures – both cosmetically and functionally.

What are the Benefits of Dental Implants?

Dental implants are beneficial for oral health. When a missing tooth is replaced with an implant, it prevents your other teeth from drifting into the space left by the lost tooth, becoming misaligned. Misalignment is a common problem for people who have lost a tooth, even when the lost tooth is a back molar.

Tooth Colored Fillings

These tooth-colored fillings are a superior alternative to traditional metal fillings. Tooth colored fillings are not only used for treating tooth decay but are used to create cosmetic smile enhancements by improving the tooth color or reshaping teeth.

Porcelain Inlays & Onlays

Porcelain inlays and onlays are a more conservative alternative to placing dental crowns. They are a stronger, longer-lasting solution for tooth decay. These restorations have great advantages from both an aesthetic and functional point of view.

Dental Bridges

If you need to restore a tooth, or several one option may be all-porcelain bridges. Our dental bridges are a replacement tooth which is usually fused between two porcelain crowns to replace a missing tooth. Two crowns hold the replacement in place and are attached to your teeth on each side serving as a bridge.

Cosmetic dental bridges are one way to replace one or more missing teeth. Fixed bridges cannot be removed from your mouth, as is possible with removable partial dentures. Bridges can reduce your risk of gum disease, help correct some bite issues, and improve the quality of your speech.

All-porcelain bridges are what we use unless there is a compelling reason to use another treatment. When properly seated, porcelain bridges are virtually as strong or stronger than traditional metal versions of the past. The appearance is identical to a natural tooth, allowing light to pass through for a beautiful translucent effect, just like nature created in your existing teeth.

If you have one or more missing teeth and are committed to good oral hygiene, you should discuss this procedure with one of our cosmetic dentists. If gaps are left unfilled, they eventually lead to the surrounding teeth drifting and moving out of position, leading to more dental and oral problems. Additionally, spaces from missing teeth can cause your other teeth and your gums to become far more susceptible to tooth decay and gum disease.

The first step in restoring a lost tooth or teeth is a full examination. At Atlanta Center for Cosmetic Dentistry, we promise to advise you on the most effective treatment for you as an individual. All of our patients expect – and receive – VIP treatment, from start to finish. The procedure involves the following steps:

  • The teeth beside the gap are prepared so the crowns will fit firmly and securely.
  • Impressions are taken of your teeth so that your replacement teeth will fit exactly into the gap and look and feel natural.
  • A temporary bridge is placed.
  • A second appointment, in which the custom bridge is placed will occur a couple of weeks later. The final porcelain bridge is cemented in place, there for the long term.

The benefits of these custom tooth restorations include:

  • Natural looking tooth or teeth.
  • Long-lasting.
  • Help keep your mouth and gums healthy and strong.
  • Restore your smile, no gaps.
  • Custom-created to match your teeth in color, shape, and appearance.

There are several reasons why these restorations are so effective and popular. While some patients may choose to have an implant – another option we offer at Atlanta Center for Cosmetic Dentistry, a fixed bridge can fill a gap perfectly and require less time to complete. The advantages include:

  • Your fixed bridge is there for the long term, firm and secure.
  • No need for adhesives and the inconveniences associated with partial dentures.
  • Easy to care for once placed – brush as normal.
  • Leaves you feeling confident in your smile.

Crowns

If a tooth is damaged, a porcelain crown covers or “caps” the tooth to restore it to its normal shape and size, strengthening and improving the appearance of a damaged or broken tooth. We use porcelain crowns and CEREC® crowns to beautifully restore broken or worn teeth sometimes in a single visit and with no dark line at the gumline.

Our Atlanta porcelain crowns are necessary when a tooth needs to be thoroughly restored due to any of the following problems:
  • Extreme decay leaving minimal natural tooth structure
  • Broken tooth
  • Cracked tooth
  • Chipped tooth
  • Oddly-shaped tooth
  • Discolored tooth or teeth

If a tooth is cracked, the crown holds the natural tooth structure together to seal cracks and prevent further decay and the potential loss of the tooth. Crowns can support a large filling when there isn’t enough natural tooth remaining, to attach a bridge, to protect weak teeth from fracturing, restore fractured teeth, or to create a more attractive smile.

Traditional crowns require two appointments, a “prep” appointment, where the tooth is prepared for the crown, impressions of the tooth are taken and a temporary is placed, followed by final appointment to put the crown in place. The impressions are sent to a lab, where the crown is crafted by master ceramists. At the second appointment, the permanent crown will be cemented in place.

Dental porcelain is a special substance that mimics the translucent look of natural teeth. These crowns are often placed in a smile restoration process, as they provide perfectly functioning teeth that are designed to appear completely natural – and are often more attractive than the tooth (or teeth) being covered. While some of the front teeth, if undamaged, can be enhanced with veneers, when the teeth have many fillings, are unsightly or discolored, odd in shape, or other similar problem, porcelain crowns are often the most attractive option for full smile restoration.

If you have a cosmetic dental problem, you have many options to choose from in Atlanta – but none of them can match the level of service and pampering you will receive at Atlanta Center for Cosmetic Dentistry. You can discover a completely different type of cosmetic dental practice, built around providing a positive experience.

At the Atlanta Center for Cosmetic Dentistry, our team of doctors offers the most advanced techniques and procedures, performed with artistry, in a luxurious office with an extraordinary number of amenities, including massage therapy, custom leather dental chairs, noise-cancelling headphones, TVs to keep you entertained, and beautiful, aesthetically-pleasing tooth restorations.

Dr. Debra Gray King is one of the country’s most talented cosmetic dentists and has devoted her professional career to advancements in technology. She lectures extensively at training seminars throughout the country and is often called upon by the media to discuss the latest trends in cosmetic dentistry. She was featured on “Extreme Makeover,” and has been awarded “Best Cosmetic Dentist” by Best Self Atlanta for several years running. Your porcelain crowns will be in the hands of a true artist, known throughout the country as a leader in modern cosmetic dentistry.

Advancements in technology now allow patients to restore a tooth with a crown in a single visit to our clinic with a CEREC crown. These crowns are created in-office with digital X-rays and imaging, rather than molds. The digital data, once collected, is sent to the CEREC unit, which uses this digital information to manufacture the crown while you wait, after which it will be cemented in place with your tooth restoration completed in a single office visit.

If you have tooth decay affecting two or more surfaces of a tooth, this all-ceramic technology can also be used to create a specialized dental filling (called a porcelain inlay) of the highest quality that lasts for years.

Convenience: Our team of cosmetic dentists offer CEREC technology. Unlike traditional dental crowns, which require two visits, this allows her to craft a customized crown while you wait.

  • Comfort: Since the crown is placed the day the tooth is prepared, there is no need to wear a temporary crown between appointments. Temporary crowns may irritate the gums or the tooth, or as they are not cemented for the long term, you must watch what you eat until the final crown is placed.
  • Composition: CEREC crowns are metal free. They are made of high-quality ceramic and look completely natural. Unlike porcelain-fused-to-metal crowns, a dark line from a metal foundation will never show at your gumline.
  • Precision: CAD/CAM technology uses 3-D digital images of your teeth produced by optically scanning your teeth. The computer then creates a dental restoration that precisely fits over your natural tooth and perfectly fits into your bite for maximum protection and comfort.

The process is easy to experience, particularly as you will indulged and cared for throughout the process. The first step involves cleaning and preparing your natural tooth. Any decay or weak portions of the tooth will be removed. The size of your tooth will be reduced to ensure the crown correctly fits and is aligned with your bite for total comfort and function.

We use a handheld, intraoral camera to scan your teeth and take digital images. A digital model of your tooth is then used to create a dental crown for you. Our cosmetic dentist will select porcelain that matches the shade of your natural teeth. The porcelain block is placed in the CEREC milling machine right in our office.

Using the digital model, the milling machine mills the porcelain block to craft a ceramic crown for your tooth. It only takes about 20 minutes for the custom crown to be created. You can rest in comfort in our luxurious custom leather chairs, watch TV, read, or get a massage while you wait. Our approach is to provide maximum comfort, from start to finish. Our cosmetic dentist will then check the crown to ensure proper fit and bite. Your CEREC crown will be polished and bonded to your natural tooth.

Treat your CEREC crown like a natural tooth. Floss daily and brush your teeth at least twice a day to prevent gum disease and tooth decay. If you’re diligent about oral hygiene, your crown can last ten to twenty years. Let us know if you clench or grind your teeth. The pressure from grinding or clenching can damage a crown. If you typically grind your teeth, we can offer suggestions to help preserve your crown – and your other teeth.

If you’re interested in protecting and restoring a tooth with a CEREC crown or need to have a crown placed in a single day due to a schedule or upcoming event, we are here to help. An examination will be the first step in determining whether a CEREC, same-day crown is the best cosmetic option for you. Call us to schedule an appointment or with our online form.

5 Things Dentists Might Not Tell You about CEREC Crowns

CEREC crowns are a great option for restoring broken or worn teeth in a single visit. They don’t require you to wear a temporary crown for two weeks while you wait for a lab to make the permanent crown. CEREC crowns look and function just like traditional lab-made crowns, so your restoration will look natural and last for many years. What should you know about these innovative crowns?

CEREC crowns are made in the office using a ceramic milling machine. Although the technology is costly, dentists who have it don’t have to pay a lab fee to make a same-day crown for you. Most dentists do so many restorations that the technology pays for itself. You won’t experience any significant costs for receiving faster care.

Same-day restorations are great for a variety of circumstances. A solid block of tooth-colored material is automatically trimmed in the milling machine into the ideal shape and size for your crown. Your dentist will choose a shade that’s a good match for the adjacent teeth. However, it is difficult for most dentists to make same-day crowns look natural on front teeth. In many cases, a lab-made porcelain crown is better for anterior teeth. At the Atlanta Center for Cosmetic Dentistry, our accredited cosmetic dentists are highly skilled at providing lifelike crowns. Dr. King, Dr. Cooper, or Dr. Reeve will explain your options for a dental crown, as well as the results you can expect.

Although CEREC technology produces crowns quickly, a dentist still needs to have a solid understanding of the mechanics of the mouth and the artistry required to create a beautiful natural-looking smile. Because of this, it’s better to work with a cosmetic dentist who uses both CEREC crowns and traditional lab-made ones. At the Atlanta Center for Cosmetic Dentistry, our cosmetic dentists are highly skilled in the use of various types of crowns.

If a skilled dentist provides your crown and you are diligent about home care and regular checkups, it can last 15 to 20 years or more. Most people find that their crowns last 7 to 15 years.

Restorations are made to match the shade of your teeth. Dental crowns are colorfast. So if you’ve been thinking about teeth whitening, it should be completed before the restorative work is done. The restoration will be made to match the bright shade of your newly whitened teeth.
